Implant-grade titanium, niobium and solid gold — sized properly and fitted for free.

Most piercing problems that walk through our door are jewelry problems. Wrong material, wrong length, wrong gauge, or something plated that's shedding nickel into a healing channel. What you put in a piercing matters as much as how it was pierced, and it's the part people economize on and then pay for later.

What we stock and why

ASTM F-136 implant-grade titanium is the default for everything fresh — it's biocompatible, nickel-free, lightweight and available in a full range of anodized colors. Niobium is a comparable alternative that some people prefer. Solid 14k and 18k gold is available for healed piercings and is genuinely lovely; note that it must be solid, not plated. We don't stock plated jewelry, mystery-metal fashion pieces, or anything with externally threaded posts.

Why externally threaded jewelry is a problem

On externally threaded jewelry, the screw thread is on the post — so every time you insert it, you drag a coarse spiral of metal through the inside of your piercing channel. Threadless and internally threaded jewelry presents a smooth post instead. It's a small manufacturing difference with an outsized effect on healing, and it's why we won't sell the cheap stuff.

Sizing and free fitting

Gauge, length and diameter all have to match your anatomy and the stage of healing. Too long and jewelry snags and angles; too short and it embeds. Bring in anything you've bought elsewhere and we'll check it for material, threading and fit — free, whether or not you were pierced here. We'll also change jewelry for you free of charge if you'd rather not fight with it yourself.

Questions

Body Jewelry — what people ask.

Is titanium or gold better for a new piercing?

Implant-grade titanium for anything fresh — it's the most biocompatible option, it's nickel-free, and it's light. Solid 14k or 18k gold is an excellent choice once a piercing is fully healed. Plated gold is never appropriate for a piercing at any stage, healed or not.

Can I bring in jewelry I bought online?

Bring it in and we'll check it for you free. We'll tell you the material, whether the threading is safe, and whether the size fits your piercing. If it's not suitable we'll say so plainly — a lot of what's sold online as titanium isn't, and it's better to find out at the counter than in your ear.
